Greetings all! If you are receiving this email, then at some time you must
have subscribed to my blog. I haven’t been sending out blog updates,
because the boat has been sitting still for nearly six months. The wait is finally over. I am very pleased to report that
my Nordhavn, Sans Souci, is running north NOW; currently crossing the Gulf of
Tehuantepec. Sadly, I’m not on the boat. A delivery crew is bringing
the boat north from Costa Rica to Seattle. After Roberta and I ran the
boat south last summer, I hired a freight company to transport the boat back
north. Our plan had been to cruise Alaska this past summer. However, after
several attempts to ship my boat, it became clear that I had hired the wrong
company. Rather than start a search for an alternate company, we made the
decision to have the boat driven north on its’ own bottom. Thus, I assembled a four-person delivery crew, led by Jeff
Sanson, of Pacific Yacht Management in Seattle. Jeff departed Golfito, in Costa
Rica, a few days ago, and will be running
almost non-stop to Seattle over the next three weeks. My policy is to send out my blog ONLY when Roberta and I are
on the boat. That said, I do post a blog entry to my website almost every day,
and there are a HUGE number of people that visit the site every day to read my
updates. I have received many requests to email my blog updates whether I’m
on the boat or not, but it’s just not my style. I don’t like
spammers, and refuse to be one. For at least the next six months, I have no
plan to send out an email to my mailing list. If you want to read my blog
between now and then, you will need to go to my website: http://www.nordhavn68.com and click on “What’s New”, or CLICK HERE to go straight to the
blog. Especially, for the next few weeks, while the boat is on the move, I
would recommend that you consider a daily visit to the blog to see what is
happening. Once you are on the blog, you will find that you can easily review the
past few months of blog entries. As to the big question: when will Roberta and I start
cruising again? I’m pleased to report that things are progressing very
well towards our Pacific crossing next summer. Our fleet now consists of four
boats! (Two Nordhavn 62s, a Northern Marine 75 and my Nordhavn 68). We’ll
be cruising Alaska, running through the Aleutians, the Bering Sea, visiting
Siberia, and completing our 5,000 mile journey in Japan. It will be a
once-in-a-lifetime chance to cruise a part of the world where very few non-commercial
boats have gone. Thank you, Ken Williams Sans Souci, Nordhavn 68 PS My books (On crossing the Atlantic, and running the west
coast of Mexico and Central America) are now available at: http://www.kensbook.com PSPS If you no longer want to receive blog updates, read the
information below for how to be taken off my mailing list. |
