I am curious about your decision regarding registration. Could you give us some ballpark figures of costs (or savings) of choosing a foreign flag over US Federal documentation and Washington registration (taxes). How are your tenders handled? While I’m sure there is pride (and a bit of patriotism) associated with flying the Stars and Stripes from your stern, considering your around-the-world plans, I can also see the value of sailing into port flying a Red Ensign given the current level of “tension” found in certain countries towards the United States.
